This song is called Lost Ones by J.Cole. This song was part of J.Coles major album, Cole World. This song is a paragon for my theme. It fits perfectly since the entire song is about his relationship with his girlfriend who is now pregnant. They keep going back and forth discussing the current situation. As the lyrics progress he begins to talk about the reasons why he cant be a father and help nourish this child he has created. During the chorus and throughout the lyrics he says that "if this world was perfect then maybe we could make it work but i doubt it." The song involves a lot of passion and also portrays events that really take place in our every day lives.
The song relates to topics we spoke about in class since it involves dialogue and narrative. This song is really interesting because the first verse that J.Cole raps is his side of the story and how he explains that although he cries about the situation sometimes, he thinks that an abortion is the best route since he does not think either of them qualify to be parents yet. It gets interesting because after this verse and the chorus the second verse comes in and it is J.Cole again but talking as the girl. She begins to censure him for his comments and wanting to abort the child, she says the line, "Did you forget all those conversations that we had way back
Bout your father and you told me that you hate that nigga
Talkin’ bout he a coward and you so glad that you aint that nigga
Cause he left your mamma when she had you and he ain't shit
And here you go doin’ the same shit." This shows that she thinks he is just like the man he said he never wanted to be. The song involves a lot of emotion and has an intense dialogue.
